Kind Words, My Space

Practise kind language alongside a clear personal boundary.

Ages 4–8

How to use

  1. Use an imaginary example: two toys both want the same cushion. Let the child choose a voice for each toy. Do not reenact a distressing event.
  2. Try phrases together: “I am using this now.” “Can we take turns?” “I need some space.” A kind voice does not mean having to agree.
  3. Ask how the other toy could listen respectfully. Adults can model stopping, giving space and asking a trusted adult for help.
